Restoration research priorities

From knowledge to impact Scaling up the WA restoration economy

Research priorities for guiding investment and effort towards a nature positive future

Ecological restoration is central to building a nature positive future. In Western Australia, the restoration economy is expanding rapidly, yet coordinated action is essential to ensure investments deliver maximum impact for people, nature, and industry.

This WABSI publication sets out research priorities to guide investment and collaboration across government, business, NGOs, landholders, philanthropy, and the research sector. The priorities focus on:

  1. Benefits – understanding and valuing the economic, cultural, and environmental gains of restoration.
  2. Prioritisation – aligning efforts around a coordinated, state-wide strategy.
  3. Monitoring and audit – developing consistent approaches for tracking progress, sharing outcomes, and informing public reporting.

By strengthening knowledge and building alignment, we can scale restoration efforts across WA and deliver lasting outcomes for communities and ecosystems.
